One of the most striking characteristics of Moroccan cuisine is its family atmosphere, where people often gather around the table to chat with friends and family.
Among the most well-known main dishes, two stand out: couscous, made from wheat semolina, generally served with vegetables, chicken, or lamb; and tagine, the name given to all dishes cooked in a special earthenware pot with a conical lid that retains heat and steam during and after cooking. The famous pastilla is another must-try.
Honey and almonds are essential ingredients in Moroccan pastries and traditionally accompany a good meal with tea.
